Toxic

Environmental pollution causes all sorts of illness, including cancer.

How to finally make sense of some of the chronic, harmful conditions affecting your horse and how to correct them.

Chronic illnesses in horses may largely be attributable to environmental and improper feed manufacturing processes leading to high levels of toxic metal poisoning.

Recent United States Environmental Protection Agency report states
toxic metals are one of the top two worst environmental health problems in the U.S.

The fact is 999 horses out of 1,000 horses
are effected in some way by toxic metal poisoning
(Jack Grogan Nationally known and published equine nutritionist)

Toxic metals are widely used in industry, agriculture and food processing.

Toxic metals are found in our air, water and food supply.

You may even be inadvertently feeding your horse feed
that is laced with heavy metals.

Some commercial pet food and feed companies know they have heavy metal contamination in their products but don’t pull them from the market.

Several commercial feeds were tested and were
found to have high levels of aluminum

Dr. Gloria Dodd DVM

The name of the feeds are cornucopia, health valley natures, hills prescription science diets, safe way’s thrifty, Purina, nature’s choice, Iam’s, Avo Derm, Wysong, ANF, Natural Life, Natural Pet Products, Premium Natural Style, Nature’s Choice, Alpo, Blue Mountain, Blue Seal, Nutrena, Purina, Kal Kan and Carnations Bright Eyes. Contact us for an updated list of commercial feeds

These contained varied levels of aluminum, mercury, cadmium and lead. The one heavy metal that was found in all of them was aluminum and at much higher levels than the other metals.
Aluminum is particularly concentrated by cereal grains and alfalfa (a horses diet!).

The biggest problem is, toxic metals are largely overlooked in medical training and ignored in many textbooks of nutrition.

Some risk factors to consider when evaluating your horse for heavy metal poisoning are:

  • Contaminated drinking water tainted with acid rain water

  • Aluminum containers such as buckets and trash cans to store food

  • Commercial feed products containing anti-caking agents

Routine blood tests cannot detect chronic heavy metal poisoning, there is one analysis (one of the few methods)approved by the EPA for detecting toxic metals within the body.

Consider this:

  • If your horse has a long-term condition that has defied diagnosis or correction by your veterinarian or other practitioner.

  • His blood tests indicate normal blood levels in all categories

  • All efforts to adjust his diet, supplements, medications and activity FAIL

Toxic metals can explain the cause of many illnesses and symptoms. Some of these symptoms may surprise you.

Some of the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning are …

  • Ataxia
(Staggering, uncoordinated movement, zig-zag movement of legs)

  • Colic
    (Upset stomach, abdominal pain)

  • Gastroenteritis
(Inflammation of the digestive track. Results in diarrhea and colic.)

  • Ulcers
(Erosion of the lining of the stomach)

  • Laminitis
(inflammation of the sensitive plates of soft tissue [laminae] with in the horses foot.)

  • Weight Loss

  • Allergies
    (Inflammation from an external factor.)

  • Depression
    (Lethargic, sad)

  • Mood Swings
(Feeling good, to feeling down. I’m sure you know what I mean.)

  • Excitability
(Jumpy, movements are tense and quick. Not paying attention to task at hand.)

  • Being unable to recover from stress
(Takes horse longer to feel 100% rested. Doesn’t snap back)

  • Hair Loss
    (Looses hair in patches)

  • Lameness
(Not sound. The horse does not put weight on one or more of its limbs or does not put weight on his limbs while moving)

  • Diarrhea
    (Loose, watery manure)

  • Unexplained Illness
    (Chronic health problems)

  • Shedding Problems
(Does not lose most or all of their winter fur)

Dangerous - Damaging - TOXIC - Metals
that you need to be aware of and worry about are:

Aluminum

Arsenic

Cadmium

Lead

Mercury

Nickel

A hair mineral analysis test will identify these metals in your horse and the technology for hair mineral analysis is well established.

A hair mineral analysis is a way of assessing your horses system by analyzing the balance of minerals in his body tissue.

Sampling hair is an easy, non-invasive and easy way to store and transport your horses body tissue and get detailed results.

Minerals are permanently locked inside. The hair leaves a clear record of mineral metabolism at the time the hair was formed. Excess minerals and other chemicals are eliminated through the hair and can be tracked. By the same token, if a mineral is deficient, less is allowed to be deposited in the hair and this shows up in the hair mineral analysis as well.

Other health issues that can be learned by a hair mineral analysis are:

  • Enzyme Function
(This makes sure the chemical reactions in your horses body are working properly. If you don’t have the right amounts working together it can sometimes be worse than not having any. This is a very common problem we see in many horses.)

  •  Endocrine Function
(This gauges and controls the hormones being secreted by your horse. To many or to few hormones can create havoc with your horse. Hormone imbalance can create a variety odd symptoms that are hard for most professionals to put their finger on. )

  •  Nutritional Deficiencies, Excesses and Imbalances
(Do you know if your horses deficient in specific minerals or if his minerals are imbalanced? Do you know what that can do to your horse?)

  •   Stress Response and Recovery
(How well does your horse deal with stress? How quickly he recovers from it? Shouldn’t you know the answers?)

  •  Inflammatory Tendencies
(Is your horse prone to arthritis, laminitis, or allergies? Could this be one of the issues that’s slowly and painfully dihebilitating your horse?)

  •   Glucose Tolerance
(Does your horse show signs of being depressed or being strung to tight? If your horse doesn’t tolerate sugar and carbohydrates well this will tell an important story.)

  •  Impaired Thyroid Activity
(I’m sure you’ve heard of thyroid problems in people. Horses are no different. If a horses thyroid is not working properly or is working slow it may project a variety of symptoms that are difficult to pin point. This is a scientific factual way to know for sure.)

Hair mineral analysis may finally give you the answers about your horse’s health that you’ve been searching for.

Now remember a Hair Mineral Analysis isn’t for everybody.

It is a scientific test done by a laboratory (only one in the country) that we have screened, evaluated and authorized.

I’m sure your thinking a test that uses an ICP instrument (inductively coupled plasma) to complete the test must be worth a small fortune. Lets not even mention the expert professional report and recommendations generated by a top equine nutritionist that will be included with the report.

That’s right you get the complete analysis and a professional analysis too… it works out to be only pennies a day. AND you’ll finally know for sure. We suggest you do a hair analysis at least once per year.

You may have already spent money on other tests and your still finding your not getting the solution or the information that explains what’s really happening.
