You probably found this site because you are looking to enhance your horse’s health, growth or performance.
Or perhaps you are interested in solving a chronic health problem that your horse has, but you just aren’t sure how to do it.
They’re lots of books and internet sites that can give you information about a horse’s diet and supplements. But what they DON’T tell you is...
“You need to know what nutrients are in your horse’s diet and what your horses body chemistry is BEFORE you modify your horses diet or put him on any type of supplement.”

It just makes sense doesn’t it?

It’s like going on a trip. Isn’t it easier, faster and safer to get where you want to go when you know where your starting from? Think about it ... How can you even get to the tack shop if you don’t know where your starting from?
Dear Friend,
My name is Mary Bogdanski and I started Equus Research Lab so people could understand that their horses don’t have to live with Health, Growth, Performance or Breeding problems any more. Fact is the majority of these problems occur because your horse’s diet and body chemistry are just not balanced.
Studies show, your horse’s BALANCED diet is critical & the key to his good health.
Your horse needs ideal levels of vitamins and minerals in their bodies so it can function properly. If just one is out balance because it is too high or too low then the rest of your horse’s body chemistry is out of balance. Each one of those vitamins and minerals has a specific job in your horse’s body.
The first thing you need to ask your self is ... Are you feeding your horse for their correct life stage? Which of the 9 life stages does your horse fall into?
For example: if you have a young horse and their calcium, magnesium and phosphorus levels are too low then they will start to develop an orthopedic disease because they have nothing to make them strong.
Or if you have a performance horse and they don’t have enough copper and selenium in their bodies then their joints will start to break down because they have nothing to repair them.
That means if the feed you are giving them has all the nutrients they need everyday and if the vitamin/mineral supplement has the right levels specific to your horse’s metabolism your horse will get those vital nutrients that will keep their vitamin and mineral reserves in balance.
If your horse isn’t getting enough or is getting too many vitamins and minerals then their body chemistry’s will be pushed out of balance. When this happens their body’s can no longer absorb and utilize the nutrients from their food and supplements correctly so they begin to start developing health issues.
Once you understand that your horse’s diet and body chemistry dictates how they are going to feel, grow breed and perform then you can really start helping your horse solve their individual problems.
How do you know what’s going on with your horse’s body chemistry?
To help identify and solve your horse’s issues I have a team of biochemists and nutritionist that are experts on the subjects of diet, body chemistry and supplementation.
They collectively have over 20 years experience analyzing and balancing horses’ diets and body chemistry’s’ and have worked on over 10,000 horses. By looking at your horse’s diet and body chemistry we can carefully match the supplement to your horse’s individual needs.
This whole process is called nutritional therapy.
Starting Equus Research Lab was done out of necessity.
Let me explain:
A couple of years ago my mare Macy got very sick. She was 30 years old and led a life of retirement. She was always in good condition and health. With the right diet and care it looked like she was going to live another 10 – 15 years easy.
Until I started noticing changes in her health and condition. Her coat became dull and dry; she started getting white hairs, losing weight, poor appetite, problems breathing, lameness and brittle hooves. I started changing her diet and adding supplements. Over a period of a few months she kept going down hill. The vet couldn’t even find anything wrong with her.
So I started doing research and came upon two concepts ration analysis and hair mineral analysis.
The ration analysis showed what nutrients were lacking in Macy’s diet and that she wasn’t getting the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals from her diet to keep her mineral reserves at normal levels.
This happens even though I was giving her a senior grain specific to her life stage. The fact was, the grain I was feeding still didn’t have all the vitamins she needed. That was shocking since the grain companies claims said it was a complete feed.
The hair mineral analysis showed what key mineral ratios and basic mineral reserves were out of balance, and if any toxic metals were present in her body.
It also showed that some of key mineral ratios were either too low or too high, her basic mineral reserves were low and she had a heavy metal (aluminum) was at a toxic level in her body. This toxic level of aluminum was preventing her body from functioning normally; compromising how she absorbed and utilized nutrients from her diet and supplements. She was unable to get healthy while all this was going on.
Now that I knew what was wrong, with the help of the lab, biochemist and nutritionist they were able to formulate a custom supplement that would balance her key mineral ratios and basic mineral reserves and eliminate the toxic level of aluminum.
Over the next year and half Macy went from almost dying to being well and happy. She gained her weight back, her coat became shiny and smooth, her appetite was normal, she stopped having problems breathing and coughing, the white hairs went away and her lameness and brittle hooves improved.
I was ecstatic that I had my horse back. But even more surprising was how balancing her diet and body chemistry using a custom supplement, and both a ration analysis and hair mineral analysis saved her. That having the right nutrition and supplements that met her individual needs is what helped her get better. I guess I was amazed because not many vets put a lot of faith in nutrition. That it is low on the list of priortys when asking questions about your horses’ health and condition. That nutrition isn’t even thought of as an option when trying to help your horse’s health.
Today I feel that nutritional therapy using ration analysis and hair mineral analysis is a big discovery that needs to be shared with everyone. I’ am thoroughly convinced that if Macy had the two analyses and custom supplement earlier she would never have gotten sick.
How can I say such a thing? Because I have seen horses just like Macy get healthier and stronger. Also our biochemists and nutritionists have analyzed and recommended custom supplements for over 10,000 horses. It constantly amazes me how horses are helped using this process.
For example, listed below are some of the many scientifically proven benefits of using a hair mineral analysis, ration analysis and custom supplement:
- Increases your horses’ energy and vitality.
- Improves your horses’ exercise tolerance and recovery times.
- Regulates mood swings and aggressiveness.
- Reduces allergies, coughs and nasal discharge.
- Reduces skin and coat abnormalities.
- Reduces infertility and breeding problems.
- Improves your horses’ appetite.
- Eliminates bloating, diarrhea and colic.
- Reduces inflammatory disorders and lameness; laminitis, Cushing’s, arthritis and ringbone.
- Stabilizes blood sugar patterns.
- Reduces carbohydrate intolerance.
- Improves your horses’ immune system, decreases susceptibility to infectious diseases.
- Safely and effortlessly improves your pregnant mare’s chances for a healthy foal.
- Reduces growth abnormalities in your young horse for a fit, strong, more powerful adolescent.
- Improves and balances hormonal levels.
- Increases stamina and strength.
- Reduces joint pain and inflammation.
Naturally many people wonder “Why have my horses get a ration analysis, hair mineral analysis and custom supplement when I can go to my feed store or tack shop and just pick any supplement?”
That’s a great question and one I get asked all the time. The thing is without a hair mineral analysis and ration analysis; there is no scientific way of telling exactly which minerals and vitamins your horse needs. If you randomly give your horse a vitamin and mineral supplement you can either raise or lower minerals levels that can push your horses’ body chemistry out of balance.
By using generic vitamin and mineral supplements you can change or rearrange a mineral pattern by 10% – 25% in any direction – your horse can probably get some relief from his symptoms but they are short term benefits by helping some parts of your horses’ mineral chart at the expense of others.
Unfortunately, the damage you are doing to your horse does not show until later. It takes time to develop. So you never realize the harm you have done to your horse.
The idea behind giving your horse a vitamin and mineral is logical. But you have to make sure that the vitamin and mineral supplement is “balanced” for your horses’ particular metabolism and body chemistry. The whole philosophy of all horses taking the same kind of vitamin and mineral supplement is just as absurd as all horses having the same hoof size.
That’s why I say over and over again: the only way you can tell what supplements to give your horse’s specific physical imbalances is to use the results of a hair mineral analysis and ration analysis there is just no other way and no better way.
Why don’t you get your horse started today? Choose one of these 3 things right now:
